When my sisters or I hit the milestone age of 12, my mum will bring us to Poh Kong or Tomei (jewelry shop) to get our ears pierced. That was my first pair of piercing. First, they'd mark your ears then spray it with a cooling liquid that serves to numb that area for a tad bit.. then using a piercing gun, BANG! :D after about a month to be safe, the studs can be removed and can wear all those pretty dangling earrings liao. Hehe ^^
Maybe you've thought about getting one. But before you jump out and act on your impulse, there's a few things you need to have in mind :-
*Make sure the place that provides such services is CLEAN and do STERILIZE their tools (I'd advice you not to choose unknown places that looks dodgy).. the last thing you want is a terrible infection with all the pus coming out! EWWWWW...
* For tattooing : Make sure that you've also done your research on the tattoo artist and take a look at his/her previous artwork. Go online and read reviews (like mine! xp) and make an appointment to show him/her the design you want and get a quote.
* Lastly, DON'T RUSH IT. Seriously, its PERMANENT. No harm taking time to think about placement and design. Remember, it's going to be part of you, so make sure it is something that you're absolutely happy about.
So far I've got 6 ear piercings (3 on each side), 1 belly pierce and 1 tattoo. Planning to get dermal lower back piercings and maybe a few more tatts. To be honest, my parents didn't agree with all the extras I've got besides the initial 1st pair of ear piercing. Heck, mommy only discovered my tatt and belly pierce when she accidentally saw me changing in my room :p But what to do?
I'm the type who'd rather live a life of 'oh wells', then 'what ifs'.
Some people say don't get cause when you're older your skin is gonna sag and it's gonna look like shit.. Haiyo, when I'm old I'm gonna become fugly anyway! I'd be proud when I look back, because I'd know that I took the courage to get it done. Besides, if it makes me happy, Boo You! Can show off to my grand-kids also! *winks*
If you're wondering about how much it HURTS, it really depends on the size and placement of the piercing and tattoo (and how much fats you have LOL). Fortunately for me, it didn't hurt! I nearly fell asleep in the beginning.. EXCEPT the last touch when Terence (my tattoo artist) sprayed an antibacterial substance that totally BURNED. Even though it lasted for about 2 mins, but I swear, it felt like I wanted to rip my skin off. (Prolly like applying chili paste to an open wound. Yep close enough.)
If I had to rate on a scale of 10 being 1 least painful,
Ear Piercings : 2/10
Belly Piercing : 5/10
Tattoo on ribcage : 5.5/10
It really wasn't that bad! If you really want it, pain wouldn't matter anyway :)
My darling Mel and I (was suppose to be my last 'bare skin' pic) Heh :)
Don't know how I'd survive without them (FDMS post next!)
My tattoo quote in Chopin Script
"Cheat on your fears
"Cheat on your fears
Break up with your doubts
Get engage with faith
And marry your dreams"
After a long time scouting, I finally found a meaningful, relatable and unique quote that I want to bring with me to the grave *not anytime soon though! CHOI!!* Happen to stumble upon a similar quote on insta but I personalized it a little. Usually, when people talk about cheating, breaking up etc, first comes to mind is regarding a relationship with a love partner. This quote however, as cliche as it seems, totally ditched that and spoke about something even more important than all that lovey-doveyness - life and it's struggles. Fear, doubts, faith and dreams are small things that can have a huge impact. I take it as a stage level that I need to overcome in almost every situation, which starts with cheating on my fears, combating doubts and so forth.
Freshly inked and pierced. (excuse the non-sculpted tummeh)
The aftercare of piercings and tattoos are similar,
Avoid eating seafood and egg yolks (high in toxin that can cause infection)
Cleanse area with salt
Make sure it is well moisturized (I use olive oil or bio oil)
Working on my next design, maybe a lotus? ;) ( btw, that was drawn on using eyeliner. lols)
Or this?
Or THIS! absolutely love! But it's at a very revealing place.hmm...
My all time tattoo idol inspiration is Megan Fox & Johny Depp. Totally Hotness overload.
(though recently been lovin Rihanna and Adam Levine's tatts too)
Btw, I got my tattoo done in Dragonfly (One Utama branch) by Terence for RM350.
Price might be a little more pricey than usual but I trust him and I'm satisfied with the results.
Check them out!
