Checklist & Boy Talk

If you are in college or uni, I'm pretty sure you're familiar with your institute's 'Confession' page. Woah.. Sunway Univerisity's confession page...80% all about love issues. Kids these days I tell you, only thinking about relationships :p (it's ok la, I fall into that 80% also) lol.

Admit it. Everyone (or at least most) of us have a checklist. Not any checklist, but The "make-it or break-it" list that you keep in your head and refer to when looking for a potential love partner or soul mate. For the girls, the typical top 3 qualities that I assume is in that list would be 1#tall, 2#handsome and 3#loyal? For the guys, hmm...1#gorgeous 2#funny and 3#smart? Of course, life would be perfecto if we could find someone that closely matches all the traits we want. But that really isn't the case for the majority of us, no? There was once in my developmental psychology class where my lecturer asked us to jot down what is the one thing your ideal partner has got to have and why. A lot of my classmates placed importance on loyalty/honesty and acceptance because without those qualities, a realistic relationship cannot happen. Of course, some also do take into consideration of religion and race (not trying to discriminate here). In fact, that list can go on and on and on.. the more dramas we watch or the more stories we hear about, the more we get brain washed and the longer and more detailed that list becomes. But lets be honest, if you aren't some Victoria Secret model, you can't expect to definitely get a guy who's all Hercules right? vice versa.

*but if you happen to look like them, kudos!

On the contrary, it isn't wrong to seek for all the good qualities. Human's nature to be greedy and competitive mah. We would inevitably always want the best for ourselves :) For me though, I think the few qualities that's on top of my checklist would be...

1#his smile (If there is one thing I'd notice about a guy, it's gotta be his smile.
Not the eyes, not the big buff body, but his genuine smile.
A guy with a great smile is definitely a charmer!)

2#mysteriously-daring (Sounds so badass but nola! xD somehow,
I'm attracted to guys who'd really walk the talk than just talk the talk.
I mean, it's nice to have someone who'd be unexpectedly full of surprises,
even if in weird ways, as along as it's with good intentions!)

3#family first (No matter how bad his relationship is with his family,
he has gotta prioritize them. I find this really important because one day,
IF we get really serious down the road and decide to get married or wtv,
wouldn't that mean I become part of his family too..?)

4#no lies (There is no point in being in a relationship if both parties
can't be truly honest with each other.
I need to know if I can truly fully accept him.)

5#stable (I need someone who is persistent to ground me.
I'm someone who is what my mother would term "wild"
and full of insecurities so it's best if the potential guy
doesn't have a roller-coaster life and knows what he wants.)

6#scent! (I love perfumes and nice smelling stuff so guy's who smell good, thumbs up!)

* I assume that basic hygiene is a total MUST for everyone so I'm not gonna put it in! Oh btw, (no offense) but I kenot tahan guys with long finger nails..unless you play the guitar..but very turnoff for me! Also, someone asked me before, what if there's this IDEAL guy but he smokes? Well, I'd first want to know the reason he smokes. If it's an addiction or to feel less stress then I'd want him to try to stop because the only thing he should be addicted to is me, and if he feels stressed, I should also be the one he turns to, not the cigarettes. But if it's really not possible, I'll be okay with it..my dad's a smoker so yeah :)

Some of my friends tease me saying that my standards are too high that is why I'm still single. YA MEH?? >_<  Okla, only been in one relationship that lasted a year plus..but I don't think it has anything to do with my standards. My ex is a great guy, and heck I would even recommend him to others! Things just didn't work out between us. He wanted to build his life around mine but I wanted to be building his life with him. But it's okay, no rush. I just haven't found the one guy at the right time that wants to stick around and make everything perfect :) I'm not the type who is into flings and wanting to date many guys before I make my choice. If I'm not up for it, I wouldn't want to give false hope. Preferably, I want to meet someone who doesn't know anyone I know. Sometimes things can get real complicated when your friends know him/her and his/her past cause it fuels gossip and drama. Everyone would be so judgy before you have a chance to really get to know the person. I'm also an old school type. These days people pop the 'Would you be my...' question through Facebook or a text. Seriously? What happened to writing love notes and flowers and ionoo...something special to remember the moment? (I know it sounds cheesey but I find it really romantic! and...mysteriously-daring *ahems* ahah)

Here are a few male celebs I admire ^^
Leonardo Dicaprio
Ever since I've watched Titanic, fell in love with him.
He plays unique roles that are definitely more on the mysterious side.
(Inception & Gatsby)

Dwayne Johnson a.k.a The Rock
Gosh. He is sho perfect. Just look at how he flashes that smile!
Not only muscular and have a bold personality but also funny!
(The Game Plan, G.I Joe Retaliation & Fast 6)

Liam Hemsworth
Just so man.. O_O lucky Miley!
(The Last Song & The Hunger Games)

Matt Dallas
Something about him is just so charming! :)
(Beauty and the Briefcase & Kyle XY)

Talking about Beauty and the Briefcase, it's a movie that made me reflect on my checklist and what really matters when looking for someone potential. Stars Hilary Duff as Lane, a fashion journalist who goes undercover to write an article about dating businessmen. Her checklist is pretty long and interesting..invovles sexy accent and having big public fights then hot make up sex after. Not too bad huh? haha.

BTW! Who got watch VAMPIRE DIARIES?!
Basically, there's this phrase that has been circulating on insta and twitter..
I want a guy who is
Strong like Klaus
Sweet like Stefan &
Protective like Damon
Yes, I'm going to die alone.
 SO TRUE! hahaahhaa xp

One last thing, I don't judge people until I truly know them. I wouldn't want to be judged for my past actions either because it doesn't represent the present me. But if you're already judging me before knowing me, I guess it tells just as much about you and how incompatible we would be! #justsaying lol. I believe in seeing everyone at their best before their worst :)

And for you single ladies out thr, don't fret! YOUR BOYFRIEND HASN'T BEEN BORN YET!

That's all for 2deh!

First Time

So.. I wasn't feeling well and went to bed early last night. Surprisingly I managed to fall asleep. Had a weird dream that can totally become a blockbuster movie..(something about bad vampires wanting to rule by killing this vampire baby that is of royal blood and humans and people with weird powers trying to protect the prince by switching the baby? ) ikr, my imagination bagus. lol. Anyway, was wide awake at like 4am and couldn't fall back asleep so I decided to grab some fruits and watch some random movie. Stumbled upon this movie First Time directed by Han Yan in 2012, starring Angelababy. If you don't know who Angelababy is, you should. She is an extremely famous Hong Kong based Chinese model, actress and singer. Gorgeous, petite and talented. Every girl can only dream about being her (at least I do! :p).

Angelababy

First Time

It's a great romantic movie :') I cried my eyeballs out T_T
Although I regret reading the synopsis before actually watching it,
I like how the story flows and how it depicts love in such a unexpected way.
Don't worry if you feel kinda lost in the beginning, all will be explained in the end.
If you haven't watched it, I suggest you do! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyU0TzsFHeU
It's in Mandarin but there is English subs so don't worry.

*Irrelevant but checkout this HUGE strawberry! :D

*obviously trying to act cute Hahah

Onomnomnom strawberries! Tata!

The Ship : Damansara Utama

Today mommy decided to bring us (grandparents, aunt and I) out for a slightly more fancy dinner than usual. We went to The Ship at Damansara near Uptown around 7pm ish and it's already packed with people! Maybe cause buka puasa time. Been visiting this restaurant since I was 10 yrs old and although the menu and price has changed a little, but the food and service is still as osm as ever *thumbs up* :) The restaurant itself takes the outlook design of a ship and to complement the theme, the waiters and waitresses wear maritime uniform! Cool right ^^ They offer a variety of food and beverage, ranging from appetizers, soup, seafood, poultry, continental cuisine, cold buffet & salad and even Chinese cuisine! I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for above average Western food that is not extremely pricey. Besides the unique design and quick service, it is suitable for family or couples who want a different ambiance.

FDMS Babes

Oh.. where do I even begin! *excites :D* Our history goes wayyyyyyyy back in high school. Felicia, Kar Men, Melody & I became close friends after we've joined PBSM (red cresent society) back at SMK Damansara Utama in year 2006. We were all from totally different backgrounds with totally different interests and hang out with totally different group of friends. Letme give ya a brief intro :D

Felicia Soo (F), is someone who is really protective of anything and anyone that she cares for. She loves and prioritizes her family in every situation and is always honest and straightforward. She is smart (although she denies it) but extremely lazy (probably that's why we click! :p). My darling here is currently studying Fashion Marketing in Raffles College.

Siow Kar Men (D), is definitely a social butterfly. She is a logical and rational person who really knows how to see the bigger picture. She is an all rounder who is osm (awesome) in latin and is nearly a walking health dictionary. Miss Danielle here is gonna be the next smexy Dr specializing in nutrition ;)

Melody Tang (M), is more of a chillax and laid back kind of person. Music and capoeira is her passion and her maid's cooking is ZE BOMB (not exaggerating here...). Punk street style is her thing and this petite fairlady is continuing her Degree in Fashion Marketing as well, however in Singapore.

Last but not least, Me! :D (S) stands for Shin Yen ^^
I'm.. urh..weird, funny (if you know me well), vain, all about my big-eyed-babies (plushies) and Disney movie kind of girl. I love art, flowers, fruits, CREME BRULEE and animals. I'm someone who'd go with my intuition and gut feeling rather than constantly weighing the pros and cons. Although I'm easily consumed by my emotions, I don't get angry easily! I like things that are unique because unique = special; special = rare; rare = in demand; in demand = good; good = valuable? #yenlogic lols. I'm a sleeping queen. Serious. Can sleep straight for 15hours (and I'm proud of it! ;p) hmmm...ohya! I suck at maths and I fall sick easily (blame it on having thalassemia)! I think the worst part of me is being ignorant about a lot of things -  thus, I takde much general knowledge... O_O my god, I'm insulting myself... haha. Anyway you get the picture.

This is FDMS back in form2?3? and yes, I used to have straight cut bangs
So the main question is WHAT GLUES FDMS for 8 yrs (and ongoing) TOGETHER?
Answer >> Because of how diverse our personalities are, we patch up each other's weaknesses.
(F) is about reality, (D) is the brain, (M) is the indulgence and (S) is the heart :)

Besides, we have one major line in common : " I'M DAMN FAT EDY". =__=
Our dieting history is as long as our friendship.
Check our whatsapp group and the word "FAT" dominates. lol. Can't blame us la, girls ma.

This was our first photoshoot together :') Candid
*to you FDM babes reading, don't zha my comment say I post fat pics arh.
These are memories <3

FDMS's first PBSM Installation Night

Our SMKDU Prom Night!
Melody, Felicia, Me & Kar Men

Ironically, besides being besties, our name also got similarity!
Fel (short for Felicia), Mel (short for Melody), Men (short for Kmen) and Yen (short for Shin Yen).
Noticed how its Fel + Mel + Men + Yen?
all the 'EL's and 'EN's. HEHE

The shy seductive dramatic surprised pose ;p

Second photoshoot credits to Men's cousin Yoong Jian. He takes amazing shots! :D

We are happy chickas!

I'm so grateful for this friendship. Really, we've been through so much nonsense together. All the fights and birthday surprises, all the dramas and boy talk, all the advice and company.. :') FDM were there for me even though I wasn't there for them when I was in a relationship. They were there for me when I was going through terrible breakdowns and sincerely, if there is ONE thing anyone needs to know about me, it's my this groupie that comes along with me. If you don't like them? Then you sure ain't gonna like me.  I love FDMS to bits <3

FDMS, is ohana.

All That Badass Stuff

It used to be a sailor/biker gang/outlaws kinda thing - getting inked and piercings all over as decoration, identity or merely a meaningful symbol. In some religion, getting tattoos or piercing are a big time NO-NO. To some it remains a taboo; but to me, it is just a way of expressing individuality in a form of body art.

When my sisters or I hit the milestone age of 12, my mum will bring us to Poh Kong or Tomei (jewelry shop) to get our ears pierced. That was my first pair of piercing. First, they'd mark your ears then spray it with a cooling liquid that serves to numb that area for a tad bit.. then using a piercing gun, BANG! :D after about a month to be safe, the studs can be removed and can wear all those pretty dangling earrings liao. Hehe ^^

Maybe you've thought about getting one. But before you jump out and act on your impulse, there's a few things you need to have in mind :-

*Make sure the place that provides such services is CLEAN and do STERILIZE their tools (I'd advice you not to choose unknown places that looks dodgy).. the last thing you want is a terrible infection with all the pus coming out! EWWWWW...

* For tattooing : Make sure that you've also done your research on the tattoo artist and take a look at his/her previous artwork. Go online and read reviews (like mine! xp) and make an appointment to show him/her the design you want and get a quote.

* Lastly, DON'T RUSH IT. Seriously, its PERMANENT. No harm taking time to think about placement and design. Remember, it's going to be part of you, so make sure it is something that you're absolutely happy about.

So far I've got 6 ear piercings (3 on each side), 1 belly pierce and 1 tattoo. Planning to get dermal lower back piercings and maybe a few more tatts. To be honest, my parents didn't agree with all the extras I've got besides the initial 1st pair of ear piercing. Heck, mommy only discovered my tatt and belly pierce when she accidentally saw me changing in my room :p But what to do?
I'm the type who'd rather live a life of 'oh wells', then 'what ifs'.

Some people say don't get cause when you're older your skin is gonna sag and it's gonna look like shit.. Haiyo, when I'm old I'm gonna become fugly anyway! I'd be proud when I look back, because I'd know that I took the courage to get it done. Besides, if it makes me happy, Boo You! Can show off to my grand-kids also! *winks*

If you're wondering about how much it HURTS, it really depends on the size and placement of the piercing and tattoo (and how much fats you have LOL). Fortunately for me, it didn't hurt! I nearly fell asleep in the beginning.. EXCEPT the last touch when Terence (my tattoo artist) sprayed an antibacterial substance that totally BURNED. Even though it lasted for about 2 mins, but I swear, it felt like I wanted to rip my skin off. (Prolly like applying chili paste to an open wound. Yep close enough.)

If I had to rate on a scale of 10 being 1 least painful,
Ear Piercings : 2/10
Belly Piercing : 5/10
Tattoo on ribcage : 5.5/10
It really wasn't that bad! If you really want it, pain wouldn't matter anyway :)

My darling Mel and I (was suppose to be my last 'bare skin' pic) Heh :)

Don't know how I'd survive without them (FDMS post next!)

My tattoo quote in Chopin Script
"Cheat on your fears
Break up with your doubts
Get engage with faith
  And marry your dreams"

After a long time scouting, I finally found a meaningful, relatable and unique quote that I want to bring with me to the grave *not anytime soon though! CHOI!!* Happen to stumble upon a similar quote on insta but I personalized it a little. Usually, when people talk about cheating, breaking up etc, first comes to mind is regarding a relationship with a love partner. This quote however, as cliche as it seems, totally ditched that and spoke about something even more important than all that lovey-doveyness - life and it's struggles. Fear, doubts, faith and dreams are small things that can have a huge impact. I take it as a stage level that I need to overcome in almost every situation, which starts with cheating on my fears, combating doubts and so forth.

I still remember how Terence reacted when I told him I want it big on my ribs. He was like " Is this your first tattoo? Are you sure? But that's big.. Are you sure girl? Wow... Really? SURE?" Hahaha..I've never been more sure in my life! He initially tried to talk me into getting it done on my pelvic or the lower bottom of my tummy reason being that ribs are one of the hardest area to tatt cause of its unequal sizing and the curve of the waistline. But I didn't care. Wanted it on my ribs, and just on my RIBS. After a total of 3 trial and error placement adjustments, I finally had it where I wanted. It was tricky though, cause when you twist or move even the slightest bit, the quote placing will change.

Freshly inked and pierced. (excuse the non-sculpted tummeh)
The aftercare of piercings and tattoos are similar,
Avoid eating seafood and egg yolks (high in toxin that can cause infection)
Cleanse area with salt
Make sure it is well moisturized (I use olive oil or bio oil)

Working on my next design, maybe a lotus? ;) ( btw, that was drawn on using eyeliner. lols)

  Or this?

Or THIS! absolutely love! But it's at a very revealing place.hmm...

My all time tattoo idol inspiration is Megan Fox & Johny Depp. Totally Hotness overload.
(though recently been lovin Rihanna and Adam Levine's tatts too)

Btw, I got my tattoo done in Dragonfly (One Utama branch) by Terence for RM350.
Price might be a little more pricey than usual but I trust him and I'm satisfied with the results.
Check them out!
